Step 1: Make a double of approximately 30cm from the braided mainline.
Step 2: Wrap the open end of the braided double onto the little finger to form a loop.
Step 3: Spread the index and middle finger into the loop to form a taut line between the two fingers.
Step 4: Turn your hand over with the back of your wrist facing upwards. Insert one end of the mono leader into the loop between your 2 fingers. Without moving the mono leader, turn your left wrist to face upwards. This will create a cross wrap on the mono leader. Continue to twist and turn your left wrist until you have 10-15 cross wraps along the mono leader.
Step 5: Tighten the wraps while keeping tension by pulling the mono and braided in opposite direction. Tie a half hitch knot to secure the wraps on the leader.
Step 6: Continue to tie about 8 sets of cross half hitches.
Step 7: Tighten the knots by pulling the mono and braided in opposite direction. Tie another 8 sets of cross half hitches, this time without the mono leader, onto the braided main line.
Step 8: Fold back the braided end, snip off the excess mono leader to leave about 5mm. Using a lighter, melt the mono end to form a little bulb. Cut off the excess braided line.
